The PULSE: Q&A with LSKD

Logan McNally, Raw Materials and Supply Chain Manager, LSKD

LSKD products get worn hard by the community that trains and sweats in them. What kicks off a new product?

We’re always setting out to solve a need for our community. Sometimes it’s performance: how a fabric fits, feels and functions. A fabric holds heat, a waistband rolls, or how a fabric performs in our Run or Train Pillars. Other times the need is aesthetic, textural or trend driven. A silhouette people are moving toward; textures added to our franchise fabrics. We not only want our products to perform but to solve our community’s need.

Over half of circular-conscious consumers surveyed see brands as the primary driver of clothing quality. When you’re designing for people who’ll wear something hundreds of times in the gym and just out casually, what does designing for that kind of life involve? It starts with context and the why for the fabric or product. What’s it solving, how does our community need this product to fit, feel and function.

With this understanding we sample and wear test in those situations. This gives us the confidence to know our product will last the test of time in those functional fitness environments time and time again.

You’ve said previously that performance and sustainability used to be positioned as a trade-off. Where are you seeing that change, and what does it open up in design?

Predominantly this came down to the feel of the fabric, impact on colour, and how it felt on body. With this removed, performing, looking and feeling the same. Any callouts from recycled fibres aren’t part of the conversation. It means that our recycled materials can become standard.

LSKD has a deeply engaged and loyal community. What do you think keeps them, and where does the product itself sit in that?

It starts with our Mission to inspire our community to be 1% Better Every Day, our Values, and how our team live them. It shows up in our events, our marketing, our retail stores and every touchpoint of the community experience. Product is where it becomes real. It’s the piece our community take with them, every session, every day. Run, Train, All Day Active. It fits, feels and functions exactly how they need it to. That’s what we build every product, event and store around. Inspiring our community to be 1% Better Every Day.
